Why am I (going to be) a midwife?
In 2016 my son was born. I hired a doula and wonderful nurse midwife at the local hospital in my town (where she, unfortunately, no longer works). I had a long and difficult labor, but came out the other side so grateful for a team that helped me through it and feeling stronger than ever. Birth should leave you feeling powerful - no matter how it happens. I began my career as a doula in early 2017, but knew midwifery was speaking to me already.

Now
Hired my doula at 28 weeks! In July my son was born and afterwards I couldn't shut up about knowing your options in childbirth.
I became a doula when my son was 6 months old! Stealing pump breaks during the weekend workshop with DONA international.
I began Midwifery school online, but it simply wasn't good timing to begin my life on-call
I landed an apprenticeship with my wonderful preceptor,
Jennifer West, LCPM of Bowling Green Midwifery - I worked as an assistant and student for her for nearly four years
Currently I'm awaiting approval for my final paperwork that I've sent in. Once it's all approved, I can apply for the CPM board exam and then get my license! It's a long process, but I'm in the home stretch. I will update this page asap after I get my license
